Spell Bottles sometimes called Witch bottles have been around since the 1600's. They appear to have originated in Britain but they seem to have made their way to the new world with  English colonists. A spell bottle dated circa 1740-1750 was found in Pennsylvania in 1976. And it appears that they stayed in use up until the 19th century.

Originally used to ward off a Evil Witch or Magician spell bottles could be ceramic vessels or glass containers filled with ingredients such as human hair and fingernails and sometimes the victims urine. This is classic example of using body parts to gel a spell to a person using sympathetic objects. Many spell bottles were created for protection of a new home protective ingredients such as garlic were placed in bottles and sealed up in walls and under floorboards when the house was under construction.

Today we can use these ideas to create our own unique spell bottles using herbs and other household objects.

To create a spell bottle

Find a glass bottle or jar preferably with a cork stopper (if not any lid will be fine) Cleanse and Consecrate. Gather up all the essential ingredients and on the correct moon phase place all the ingredients in the bottle, Say or chant meaningful words for you intent, Anoint a candle of the appropriate color and put in a candle holder. Light the candle and place on top or next to your spell bottle and meditate on your desire, then when the power is raised and sent to the bottle seal the lid with wax from the candle. Then place the bottle in the most fitting place i.e. In your car, under your house in your room or bury it in your garden. Say "So it is done!"
