Unexplained Australia came into being in March 2007. Previously known as Port Stephens Paranormal Investigations or PSPI - our name was changed because we felt that our old label led people to believe we were only interested in Paranormal goings on in our immediate local area. The group was founded by the husband and wife team of Murray and Michelle Byfield who all their lives have had a passion for the unexplained and paranormal.

We also felt that the name did not have a broad enough appeal to all Australians. Hence Unexplained Australia was born.

This name "Unexplained" Australia was decided upon because our group did not just focus simply on Ghosts and Hauntings - although a main area of interest our other loves are in UFO's, Cryptozoology, Anomalous Archaeology and any other "Unexplained" Phenomena.

Unexplained Australia is based in the Hunter Region of NSW Australia. We travel to areas such as Newcastle, Central Coast, Maitland and Hunter Valley to conduct investigations as we believe these areas are some of the most significant in terms of paranormal activity outside Sydney and other capital cities. The Newcastle/Hunter area is Australia's second oldest settlement and has many old buildings and cemeteries with many stories attached to them.

Our aim is to conduct professional investigations which are professional in nature and yield positive results.
